Banksy just tore the art world to shreds with a million-dollar prank.
Banksy, a notorious and anonymous artist that has taken the art world hostage with their bold statements has done it again. One of Banky’s most well-known pieces went up for auction at Sothebys this Friday (October 5th) and sold for over $1M. Moments after the auction closed, spectators were horrified to see the famous painting slide down in the frame and through a shredder hidden in the bottom of the frame.
“It appears we just got Banksy-ed,” Alex Branczik, Sotheby’s senior director and head of contemporary art in Europe, said as the painting destroyed itself, the Guardian reports.

Banksy released a video shortly afterwards, showing how the prank was completed.
Gotta respect true art.
