Love him or hate him, Larry has given his viewing audience some riveting TV interviews….never afraid to ask the tough (and awkward) questions.  So I got to thinking: what’s the REAL reason Larry’s retiring? I came up with a few ideas:

*He’s 128 years old

*He didn’t mean to retire, he just forgot he still had a show

*It wasn’t easy juggling a TV show, marriage, AND an affair with his wife’s sister

*Larry on high def scared children and the elderly

*Couldn’t handle the pressure of coming up with questions like “What’s your favorite lunch meat?”

A 26-episode series of the Looney Tunes, premiering on Cartoon Network in the fall, will feature five to six minute shorts featuring all the original characters – including Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Marvin the Martian, etc. – and intercut with “Merry Melodies” and two minute Road Runner chases!

The studio will also release its first 3D short film entitled “Coyote Falls,” which will feature the classic characters Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner, and will be attached to prints of the summer film Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore, due in theaters on July 30.

I even wondered for a few days “Is he going to live? Recovery rates from brain hemorrhages aren’t great.” But, it turns out Bret is a fighter and is making a recovery and doing lots of rehab. 

In addition, Bret isn’t chancing being out of the spotlight now that the world’s attention is on him.  He was just on Oprah earlier this week and will be starring in a new VH1 Documentary called “Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It.” The show will give viewers “an insider’s look at Bret’s home life when he isn’t touring, shooting, partying and rocking out,” and will premiere on May 31st. Bret also plans on being on the live season finale of Celebrity Apprentice and hitting the road in 6 days to tour. 

Holy crap! This is a frantic schedule for someone who didn’t just get out of ICU.  Too much too soon perhaps? Pushing that bandana to the limit possibly? 

What do you think? Is Bret doing too much this soon after his health crisis to cash in on the notoriety? Does his hemorrhage make you more interested in Bret – even if you never were before then?

The big story in the news recently….pro football Hall-Of-Famer Lawrence Taylor arrested for paying a 16-year-old girl $300 for sex, which she was forced to do by her pimp.  What??! Between making history as a defensive professional football player, competing on Dancing With The Stars last season, and being a NutriSystem spokesperson, Lawrence couldn’t find a woman of age to have sex with him?? What’s this world coming to?

Even worse – he didn’t man up about it in the beginning.  Taylor’s lawyer said he was innocent of all charges and did NOT have sex with that woman. (Sound familiar?) Now he admits to paying her $300 for sex, but maintains that her pimp told him the girl was 19 years old.  Oh…OK…then that makes it fine. I’m sure his wife feels better about the whole situation.   

Sure, no one is perfect and celebs/sports stars are no exception…but having sex with an underage girl that just got beat up by her pimp??  Pathetic! What’s your take?

Yeah, there were some heartbreaks. For example, I HATED  losing the gold medal in men’s hockey to Canada.  But that is their thing, so what can you expect? At least we know we can beat them and we put up a hell of a fight to the end.

What were your thoughts/reactions to the Winter Olympics? Did you find yourself watching more or less than you thought? What was your favorite or least favorite thing? Would love to hear your perspective…

I’d say “no,” I’d rather miss the commercial since I know I can always watch them the next day on YouTube, but the Superbowl is about the only time I look forward to TV commercials. 

Now we already know how expensive the ads are – I think this year a :30 ad costs $2.5 million. Today I hear that OUR tax dollars were spent on an ad that will be running during the big game Sunday by the U.S. Census Bureau.  Really? Did we vote for that?

Maybe a more important question: why does the Census Bureau need to launch such a huge ad campaign? Is there fear of a huge backlash of people refusing to fill out the census forms? I don’t remember it being such a big deal in the past.  I must be missing something.

So I thought I’d ask you.  What do you think about all that taxpayer money being spent by the Cencus Bereau on one :30 ad? And – why are they spending it in the first place?

So as my wife and I sat watching the crazy guy from Atlanta singing about “Pants On The Ground” (which was pretty damn funny) I decided I needed a way to make this bareable for me. 

So after long consideration I decided drinking is the only thing that could make this show watchable.  Hell, doesn’t drinking make pretty much everything better?

Since I enjoy drinking and drinking games, I decided to combine the two…. so here’s my idea!

The “Official American Idol Drinking Game” rules:  (Can be used when playing alone or with a group of players)

Drink everytime Randy says “Dawg” “Dude” or “Man…drink twice if he says it to a woman.

Drink whenever Simon uses the title of the song as part of his insult.

Drink everytime Simon says “this is a SINGING competition”

Drink everytime Kara is hot and bothered by a hot male contestant. Drink twice if he sings directly to her.

Drink everytime someone tells Simon “Well, that’s just YOUR opinion!”

Drink everytime a contestant says “I’m the next American Idol.”

Rules For Group Play Only:

Rule 1: Anytime Randy says “dog” you have to put your thumb on your head. The last person to do so has to take a drink.

Rule 2: Everytime Simon says “Horrible” or any variation of the word (i.e. horrific, horrendous, etc) it is a social and everyone has to drink.

Rule 3: Everytime someone takes a sip out of a cup, the first person to yell “cup” gets to make whoever they want drink.

Rule 4: When you see a person featured (someone that is about to go before the judges), you pause the show.  At this point (starting with one player and working around the room), you choose whether or not the person will make it to Hollywood.

If you are correct, you are safe and don’t have to drink. If you are wrong, you have to drink with the other losers who also guessed wrong!

Rule 5: When a person is featured and after you decide whether or not they make it to Hollywood, you get to pick an artist you think they will sing. If they sing that artist, then everyone else in the room has to finish their beer (no matter how much is left) and you get to gloat in all your fantastic glory.

This kind of backlash happens periodically.  Bruce Springsteen has lost fans after broadcasting his liberal views and on the flip side – so has Ted Nugent. 

My question to you: Should rock stars stop publicly announcing their political views? Sure, they have a 1st Amendment Right to express their opinions, but is it smart?  It definitely can alienate fans.  Personally, I could care less what a rock star’s political view is – I just want them to shut up and rock.  Should their political beliefs carry more weight because they’re famous? I would say no, but there’s no doubt that any celebrity endorsement can be influential to certain people, especially young ones.
