One of the most impactful events for veterans on the Honor Flight is at risk of disappearing. Here’s how you can help save it.
The Central Missouri Honor Flight sends local veterans to see their war memorials in Washington D.C. As the buses return to Columbia, they are escorted in by hundreds of motorcycles as a special salute. The Central Missouri Honor Flight Riders stage at the Firefighters Memorial in Kingdom City, and ride past the buses along I-70, much to the delight of the veterans on board.
To ensure the safety of all the riders, some changes are coming to the escort.
- Safety Officers will direct bikes staging at the Firefighters Memorial.
- Safety Riders will lead smaller groups of riders (pods) to help maintain speed and formation.
- Continued enforcement of No Alcohol or Drugs at the staging area.
- Staging for the escort will be laid out as such:
The most important thing to remember: This is for the veterans.
Please do your part to ensure this great tradition stays alive for all Honor Flights to come!
