Happy 70th Birthday LSD
LSD turned 70 this week and we take a look back at the music it influenced…
Have fallen sloppy dead
And the white knight is talking backwards
And the Red Queen’s off with her head,
Remember what the dormouse said:
“Feed your head,
Feed your head.”
Where rocking horse people eat marshmallow pies.
Everyone smiles as you drift past the flowers
That grow so incredible high.
Newspaper taxis appear on the shore,
Waiting to take you away.
Climb in the back with your head in the clouds,
Lately things don’t seem the same,
Actin’ funny, but I don’t know why.
‘Scuse me while I kiss the sky.
He’ll bring you down.
He’ll plant your feet back firmly on the ground.
He flies so high,
He swoops so low.
He knows exactly which way he’s gonna go.
It hasn’t got a care.
He might be going fast,
But is he going anywhere?
Dug our treasures there,
But can you still recall
The time we cried,
“Break on through to the other side,
Break on through to the other side”
And threw away all my grits
And then he took and he ate up all of my corn.
Let me go home.
Why don’t they let me go home?
This is the worst trip I’ve ever been on.
And when you touch down,
You’ll find that it’s
Stranger than known.
Ceiling is the sky.
You’re the sun and as you shine on me,
I feel free, I feel free, I feel free.
