Monday reports were out regarding who the Eagles would have taking Glenn Frey’s place in the band in their upcoming Classic East/West shows.
Bestclassicrockbands.com was the first to report that during an appearance on a sports talk radio show in Dallas, Don Henley let it out before the “official announcement” that Glenn Frey’s song Deacon Frey would be taking his dad’s place in the band this summer. Henley acknowledged that he wasn’t supposed to say anything until the official announcement in a few days, but he was ready to let it out then & there.
Henley said that Deacon is very talented and seems up for the task, along with being enthusiastic about it and working really hard on the songs. Also adding that he thought it was appropriate for Deacon to be in his dad’s place in the band.
Last summer Henley mentioned in an interview that it only made sense for the band to have Deacon in the band and that he would only consider a reunion if Deacon was on board. Henley’s comments last summer were made before the band even asked the Frey family about the idea.
