He’s Now Sir Richard Starkey

The Beatles drummer Ringo Starr, on Tuesday March 20th, became the second Beatle to receive knighthood.

Ringo is the latest in a list of rock stars receiving knighthood from the Royal Family, including his bandmate Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, Elton John, Rod Stewart, & more.

He was knighted by Prince William at Buckingham Palace. Talking with the BBC he was asked what he was going to do with his medal Starr said, “I’ll be wearing it to breakfast.”

Ringo along with the rest of The Beatles, McCartney, George Harrison, & John Lennon were previously awarded the Most Excellent Order Of The British Empire in October 1965.
