What gives? Several years ago you changed formats from a Top 40 rock to a classic rock station, however I stayed with you as a listener since you were still the local station for Bob and Tom. Granted I did not care for the change, but I accepted it and moved on.
Now, you appear to have dropped the Bob and Tom show. For what reason? Cost? If this is a money driven decision, could I interest you in some Facebook stock?
I am done with you as a station. I have already removed you from the presets in all the vehicles. There is no coming back for me. This was the last straw! Oh, please e-mail me a WorkForce e-mail so I can unsubscribe from that too. As a station, you were marginal at best with the one exception being the Bob and Tom Show. Now you have stumbled into the realm of pathetic and sad.

No Bob & Tom = NO 96.7. There are plenty of stations playing classic rock but you were Da Man with Bob & Tom! Now, simple math / no Bob&Tom then no 96.7 on all of my radio dials. Will remove all your presets this morning and never listen to your station again. To put it more plainly, this sucks!!!!

They were dropped because the ratings system switched from the old “keep a diary” system to meters. No surprise, B&T tanked when ratings were actually metered.
KSHE dropped them as soon as their contract ran out back in January. They feel based on a couple of other station’s changes, that music stations need to play music 24/7, not interrupt it with talentless blowhards out of Indy. Loved the show when they had talent on their but tuned out when it was just the 4 of them.
Not that the person doing your morning show is any better. But again, it’s about ratings.

This morning the “Shag” treated us to a sermon on loyalty. Where “he’s from” there is apparently a lot of it going around, which is great. I’m all for loyalty. What “Shag” doesn’t seem to get is that those of us who are unhappy with the change were not loyal KCMQ listeners, but loyal Bob & Tom show listeners. KCMQ just got to pay for the privilege of riding on their coattails and getting their advertising revenue. But even loyalty for the show only goes so far. If Bob & Tom suddenly fired Chick and Kristy and then removed all traces of them from their website and acted as though they never existed, and then changed their format from a comedy-news-variety-music format to a music-not very funny-music-more not very funny format, they would probably get some criticism, too. If Zimmer Broadcasting were a person instead of a company, I might accuse them of disloyalty to a bunch of people who have been buying stuff from their advertisers for a long time, but Zimmer is a company, so loyalty doesn’t enter into it, only the bottom line, which is just the way things are. So “Shag”, before you start griping about disloyalty, please think about what you’re saying. Try a little show prep. Try to be funny. I’m trying to give you a chance, earn it by treating the people that are listening with a little respect. Dropping a show with no notice and no explanation is obviously their right, but it still feels like a pretty lousy way to treat their consumers. Ask your bosses to issue some sort of statement explaining why this format change happened. I know they don’t have to, it would just be the decent thing to do. Good luck.
Unfortunately I wont be listening either…but I hope to take this in a more mature route. Bob and Tom was an excuse for me and my co-workers to turn on your station in the morning and continue listening to your station throughout the day. We no longer have that excuse anymore. Add my name to the growing list who only tuned in to your station for Bob and Tom. Sure, it comes down to money, and this will help in the short term, not having the expense of B&T, but in the long run you will lose. A lot. When listeners leave, advertisers leave, revenue leaves, and then the station is no more.
So glad Bob and Tom are history. That annoying laugh track was maddening. Shag’s is quite honestly a weak DJ, but I guess the powers that be decided they needed a warm body in the studio. Why not air Johnny Dare outta KC? That guy is genuinely funny!
