It only took the plaintiff 25+ years to place his lawsuit.
This past Monday (February 27th) guitarist Paul Rose filed his lawsuit in Manhattan claiming that U2 heard his song “Nae Slappin'” after signing with Island Records and stole elements from it for their song “The Fly” from their 1991 album Achtung Baby, which he claims was around the same time he gave the record label a demo of his song to record executives.
Rose is seeking $5 million in damages and lawyers fees.
Representives from U2 and Island Records have yet to comment on the lawsuit.
