A new theatrical stage production of The Who’s concept album Tommy will have a brand new song added to it.After hearing the news of a new stage production that will feature actors with disabilities of various kinds guitarist Pete Townshend was excited as it would bring new light to the concept of the original story of a young man who was disabled by extreme trauma. Townshend picked up his guitar and wrote the song “Acid Queen 2” for the new stage production.
The BBC described it as “the torch song” and actor Peter Straker was “quite elated” to perform it.
In act two of the play The Acid Queen hasn’t healed Tommy yet and the song deals with how you deal with fame when it’s faded, according to Straker.
Here’s the trailer for the show that is set to open March 30th at the New Wolsey Theatre in Ipswich, England.
