I found myself getting geeked out watching the Winter Olympics this year, and that usually doesn’t happen. So what was so special? It might have been the way NBC programmed the coverage. Every night I’d click on NBC and find out which events were being covered. Usually they covered three events every evening and even if there was one I had no interest in (like Ice Dancing), there was still a different event that I wanted to watch. Maybe it’s the fact that these athletes train most of their lives for this one event and I felt compelled to witness their “moment”. Maybe it was because the USA had some exciting athletes to watch and we ended up bringing home more medals than any other country during the Olympics.
Yeah, there were some heartbreaks. For example, I HATED losing the gold medal in men’s hockey to Canada. But that is their thing, so what can you expect? At least we know we can beat them and we put up a hell of a fight to the end.
What were your thoughts/reactions to the Winter Olympics? Did you find yourself watching more or less than you thought? What was your favorite or least favorite thing? Would love to hear your perspective…
