In a new interview long-time Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Zakk Wylde talks about when his drinking problem started.
Wylde, who gave up drinking in 2009, said that when he joined Ozzy’s band in 1988, at the age of 19, that’s when his drinking problem began because nobody else would hang out with Ozzy except him.
Zakk said that nobody else would hang out with Ozzy because they didn’t want to get canned for being an enabler to Ozzy’s drinking.
Sharon, who Zakk refers to as “mom” because she has been like a mom to him since he was 19, would even ask Zakk’s wife Barbaranne back in the day if he had a drinking problem to which she replied, “no — he drinks milk!” Sharon had to break that news to her.
During the interview Zakk added that “A lot of my friends went to college, and I went to Ozzy Osbourne University, which was like Animal House on steroids.”
