Bohemian Rhapsody & Rami Malek Win at the Golden Globes

“Bohemian Rhapsody” wins big at the Golden Globes, snatching Best Picture – Drama and Best Actor for Rami Malek.

The Golden Globes surprised everyone when they announced “Bohemian Rhapsody” as the Best Picture – Drama of 2018. Even producer Graham King was surprised, approaching the podium in disbelief, remarking “Now that was unexpected!” He ended his acceptance speech by dedicating the award to Freddie “Thank you for showing us the power of embracing your true self. This one’s for you”.

Rami Malek won Best Actor – Drama for his portrayal of Freddie Mercury and toasted his win with Queen rocker Brian May.

Previous Director Bryan Singer wasn’t at the awards ceremony or mentioned in the speeches by Malek or King. Singer was fired from the biopic 2 weeks before completion but still considered the film’s Director. This was not the first major change in the biopic- Malek had also replaced Sacha Baron Cohen in the lead as Freddie.
