Ozzy Osbourne Says He’s Getting The COVID-19 Shot

For most people getting the COVID-19 vaccine shot is a big thing to talk about, but for Ozzy, he’s made up his mind.

In a new interview, Ozzy who just turned 72 this past December said he was going to get the COVID-19 vaccine shot. He doesn’t want to take any chances as he said there’s a good chance that if he doesn’t get the shot and he gets the virus that he won’t be here anymore.

Back in November of 2020, Ozzy stated in a GQ interview that he suffers from the respiratory disease emphysema. Because of this, he runs on the high-risk side of severe pneumonia and poor outcomes when it comes to COVID-19.

Emphysema as defined by The American Lung Association at lung.org: develops over time and involves the gradual damage of lung tissue, specifically the destruction of the alveoli (tiny air sacs). Gradually, this damage causes the air sacs to rupture and create one big air pocket instead of many small ones. This reduction in the lung surface area traps air in the damaged tissue and prevents oxygen from moving through the bloodstream. Additionally, this blockage causes the lungs to slowly overfill and makes breathing increasingly more difficult.

Ozzy has every right to be concerned with catching the virus as people with emphysema are on the increased risk list according to the Center For Disease Control And Prevention.
