I want to start this by saying: Shags is ok. But we had a bit of a scare.
UPDATE 12/27/22: Shags video update!
You may have noticed that Shags left out Trevor in the Thank You’s.
Shags texted Trevor nearly 10 hour after posting this video to apologize:
The text from Shags to Trevor –
Dude, I just realized I didn’t think you in the video. In my head I did. That’s f#@$!%& brutal. I’m so sorry. I’m really disappointed in myself. You’ve done so much and carried so much weight. You’ve honestly done the most. Thank you.
Trevor’s response-
I feel that I should be thanking you. You’ve given me an incredible gift. I will be strategizing on how best to use this power until you return. This may be stronger than ‘Mom Guilt’.

Original Post 12/09/22:
On Monday December, 5th Shags had a stroke.
He was rushed to University Hospital for treatment and spent the next several days in the Neurology ICU.
The main area that was affected was his speech. I’m happy to share that his condition has dramatically improved over each day and he is not only out of the hospital, but he walked out of the hospital on his own two feet! His family is in town from Oregon and they together with his fiancé are taking great care of him.
When I last spoke with him, he was in good spirits. He’s laughing at jokes, and making smart ass comments! He is able to carry on a conversation, but he’ll be the first to tell you that he can tell he’s not 100%.
He will need some time to recuperate and build up his speech even more with speech therapy.
In the meantime, if you would like to send him a well wish you can do so in one of several ways:
- Use the ‘Mic’ feature and email a voice message to us on the KCMQ App
- Post pictures, write him a joke or well wish on our Facebook Page
- Text your well wish to us at 1-800-455-1967
I know he’ll appreciate it.
Lastly, a special shout out to his fiancé, family, friends, co-workers, doctors, and nurses, who have helped out during this insane experience. And thank you for your support!
