Over the 4th of July weekend, Black Sabbath played their final show. “Back to the Beginning” was an epic moment and awesome to see Ozzy on stage. No one would have guessed just over two weeks later he’d be gone.
Born December 3, 1948, Ozzy surged to stardom as he founded Black Sabbath in 1968, taking the rock world by storm. Over the years, songs like “Iron Man”, “War Pigs”, “Paranoid”, and “Sweet Leaf” became rock staples before he got fired in 1979. As a solo artist in the early 80s, that playlist grew with “Shot in the Dark”, Flying High Again”, “Crazy Train”, and “No More Tears”. There are just too many to name as his career spanned 9 Sabbath albums and 13 solo albums.
Thanks to MTV, a new generation discovered Ozzy as he became a reality star in the early 2000s, starring in “The Osbournes”. The show ran from 2002 to 2005, airing 52 episodes, and provided insight into his personal life, as well as many hysterical and memorable moments.
RIP Ozzy.
